HC upholds doctor's conviction for medical negligence - NewsX

The Bombay High Court has delivered a landmark decision, by upholding the conviction of oncologist and Padma Bhushan recipient Dr PB Desai in a medical negligence case. The court said that the doctor conduct showed "violent indifference, recklessness and ego". Desai was accused of causing through negligence... the death of Leela Singhi, wife of retired IAS officer PC Singhi. Dr Desai was treating Leela for cancer. She died on February 25th, 1989. A magistrate's court found Dr Desai guilty of endangering life and personal safety, that the High Court upheld while asking him to pay a compensation of 50,000 rupees.
