Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee tabled the economic survey 2011-12. The survey presents a rosy picture pegging growth at 8.6 per cent and a prediction that inflation will ease. The survey has commended the Government on its fiscal management and also aiding export growth of 40 per cent. The survey also calls for defence of Rupee versus dollar and the oil shock risk. However, besides the rosy picture apart if one has to compare the survey predictions with current realities, experts feel that there is no sign of fiscal belt tightening. Moreover, the rupee is still at annual lows, and the correction in inflation is very minor and not due to strong fundamentals. Also the export growth is driven by a weak rupee.
