Djokovic beats Nadal to win Australian Open

Novak Djokovic has won a 3rd Australian open title maintaining his incredible record over Rafael Nadal with a grueling 5-set 6-hour long win, his seventh straight win over Nadal in finals. Nadal drew first blood with a break in the first set to make it 4-2. But the world number one fought hard to straighten things up and the set went into a tie-breaker. Nadal edged Djokovic out to take it 7-6. Djokovic broke Nadal at crucial points to take the next two sets 6-4, 6-2. Some incredible rallies in the match keeping the audience glued. The rivalry was at its best as the two gladiators fought it out in the fourth set that went into a tie-breaker. Djokovic had his chances to close out the match but three key forehand errors by the Serb and fabulous play by Nadal took the score to 2 sets all. The two had never played a 5-setter before.In the final set, Nadal broke Djokovic to go 4-2 up but the Serb earned the break back immediately.
