Darjeeling bridge collapse: Death toll rises to 32

The death toll in the Darjeeling bridge collapse has mounted to 32 as eight more people succumbed to injuries. 50 others were injured when an old wooden footbridge collapsed during a public meeting of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha yesterday. Army was deployed for the rescue work which has been completed. State government has announced a compensation of rupees 2 lakhs for the kin of the deceased.
