On Saturday night, the accused intercepted an Alto car near Pili Kothi in Delhi on the pretext of checking documents. The carowner, 60-year-old Amarjeet Singh Chaddha, a dry fruits dealer at Khari Baoli, was heading home to Rani Bagh with his employee, Mohit. Chaddha was wearing seven heavy gold chains and was carrying Rs 80,000 in a bag. When the duo resisted his attempt to rob, Tomar allegedly whipped out a revolver and fired three shots in his abdomen. After shooting Chaddha, Tomar ditched his UP-registered Pulsar bike and fled on foot. He also shot at Harinder Singh a biker who chased him.
