South Korea will commemorate the biggest peasant revolution in Korean history after it was designated as a national anniversary.
The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, voted on a bill to commemorate May 11th as the anniversary of the Donghak Peasant Revolution.
The revolution took place in 1894 when the Donghak peasants rose up against corrupt government officials and the Japanese military that tried to quell them.
The vote comes after efforts to cast light again on this historic event.
