17 killed in New Delhi budget hotel fire, lax safety standards blamed

At least 17 people have died after a fire ripped through a budget hotel in New Delhi, raising fresh questions about India's safety standards.
Most of the victims were sleeping when the fire broke out at the Arpit Palace Hotel.
An investigation is underway, but the blaze is believed to have been caused by a short circuit.
Negligence by safety enforcement officials is also being blamed for the incident.
