Government Shutdown Hurts Indian Country

The partial government shutdown is hurting American Indian and Alaska Native tribes across the U.S. According to Business Insider, federal government funds many service to Indian country. This includes things like law enforcement, health care programs, road maintenance and other services. The Chippewa Indians in Michigan have lost around $100,000 daily in federal funding. While tribes are currently using their own funds, they soon could be depleted if the shutdown doesn’t end.
