Thousands of US Kids Are Injured by Guns Each Year A new analysis says an average of
8,300 kids in the U.S. go to the hospital
each year due to gunshot wounds. The study from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine says close to half were shot
on purpose. 40% were accidentally shot, and 6% who made it to the hospital passed away. Dr. Faiz Gani, Johns Hopkins University, via statement The research used emergency room data of over 75,000 kids from 2006 to 2014. Average hospital costs were $2,445 for emergency room visits. If the injured child was admitted to the hospital, the price was an
enormous $44,000.
