The example you see here wasn’t one of the cars used in period by a Moss, a Clark, or a Taylor, however in the hands of its current owner, Robert Barrie, it has added a verse to the 18′s success story by winning the Historic Formula Junior Championship.
Sold new to a Lotus distributor on the West Coast of the States it raced regularly there and in Canada before returning to the UK in the mid-Nineties. Then, after a thorough rebuild it was pressed back in to racing duty, and according to Robert it has been raced ‘well and often!’ since then.
The motor you can hear is the correct Ford 105E-based lump, which we’re told spins to an impressive 8,5000rpm ‘… or higher if circumstances require it!’
