Students protest in Barcelona to mark anniversary of Catalonia’s independence referendum

Hundreds of students took to the streets of Barcelona this morning to back up the results of the region’s banned referendum for independence which took place last year.
Footage captured this morning, October 1, shows dozens of protesters waving Catalonia pro-independence flags at plaça Universitat in the region’s capital.
More protests have been called later today to commemorate the vote crushed by the Spanish police crackdown in which hundreds were injured at polling stations.
