Blockbuster store comes back to life in Bethnal Green for Deadpool 2 release
- 6 years ago
Blockbuster Video, which ceased trading in the UK in 2013, has risen from the dead in East London.
A mock-up of the video rental chain has landed in Shoreditch for two days only – and it's only stocking one film.
Footage filmed at the pop-up shows how rows upon rows of collector's edition copies of "Deadpool 2" fill up the shop.
The pastiche has been set up as a promotion for the film's release to download, on Blu-Ray and on DVD.
According to a sign outside the shop, customers who manage to dig out their old Blockbuster loyalty card can queue jump and claim a free copy of the film.
The last Blockbuster in the UK closed its doors in December 2013, having previously had 528 stores.
