Justice Department Says Harvard Discriminates Against Asian Applicants The U.S. Justice Department says it supports claims that Harvard University discriminates against
Asian-American applicants. According to the Department, the Ivy League School bases the applicants in question on a "personal rating," which evaluates prospective students on traits like likability, courage
and kindness. Despite having the highest academic ratings of any ethnic group, Asian-Americans score the lowest on the personal rating. Justice Department lawyers now attribute this to
racial basis. Harvard is currently being sued in federal court
by Students for Fair Admissions, a nonprofit that is challenging the legality of affirmative action.
