Mexico City Dancers Bring Ballet From the Stage to the Streets

When the traffic light turned red, dancers from the Ardentia Compania de Danza leaped into the street and, in front of surprised motorists and pedestrians, performed a ballet routine for less than a minute, before the traffic light turned green.The street performances, which began in mid-July and have been delighting pedestrians and motorists alike, are part of an initiative called “the theatricality of public space”.The featured music has ranged from ballet classics such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, to Michael Jackson’s Rock With You.This video features dancers performing the Seguidilla scene from of Ludwig Minkus’s Don Quixote.
