The South Korean government has pledged to review its refugee laws to stop people trying to take advantage of the system.
The Justice Ministry announced on Friday.... that it will look into how it will change the law to build better safeguards that separate people who are genuinely seeking asylum,... from issues such as political and religious persecution,.... from those who are simply seeking economic advantages.
The issue has arisen after over 5-hundred refugees from Yemen arrived on the resort island of Jeju in recent months.
The ministry also said.... six members of staff related to immigration issues, including two interpreters, will join the current four member team, to try cut down the current screening period of eight months to two to three months.
