Hawaii's Kilauea Lava Flow Shuts Down Highway

Reuters reported that a fast-moving lava flow from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano forced officials to close a highway on Tuesday. Officials also warned that sharp, thin strands of volcanic glass fibers carried on the wind could injure eyes and lungs. Residents were told to monitor their radios and phones for updates and evacuation orders. Hundreds of people have already been ordered to evacuate the vicinity of one of the world’s most active volcanoes.Kilauea is entering its fourth week of eruption. So far there have been no deaths blamed on the eruption.
