This is a big NewsX impact- The mines & geology dept suspends mining operation of 5 companies near Bannerghatta national park in Bengaluru. A joint survey with forest department has been ordered. Authorities reiterates 2014 forest ministry guidelines that no mining within 10km boundary of a national park. NewsX in March has exposed how stone mining and crushing was continuing unabated in close vicinity of BANNERGHATTA national park and in elephant corridor. The Karnataka government failure to notify the eco sensitive zone had allowed the quarries to take advantage of the ambiguity.
