Edwin Starr - I Have Faith In You

While we were doing Motorcity, I wrote over a hundred songs with Edwin Starr. We released six singles of Edwin's on the Motorcity label, and recorded about fifty songs in the end. This song, "I Have Faith In You", was one of his earliest releases, back in 1965 on the legendary Ric-Tic label, from out of Detroit, which got absorbed by Motown, and this became a record that over the decades, people cared about very passionately. It seemed to be THE song that Northern Soul fans played at their weddings. When we wanted to film one of Edwin's classics for "The Strange World Of Northern Soul" DVD, it simply became no contest - this HAD to be the one. A timeless gem that makes his loss all the more painful every time I hear it.
