Bollywood Child Actors Who Turned SUPER STARS - Part 1

They first caught the attention of the public as cute petite child actors; ones who bought innocence to the movie and in the process garnered collective ‘awwws’ from the audience. Their childhood days are long gone and these grown up individuals are back on the silver screen to grab their piece of true stardom. Here’s a list of child actors who made a place for themselves in the adult…ahem…world of Bollywood!

Aamir Khan

Who can forget the cute little Aamir Khan in Yaadon ki Baarat as the youngest brother Tariq and the song and dance where he raises his little finger to indicate nature’s call? Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist also acted as a child artist in Madhosh (1974). And now, the PK starlet is one of the leading stars of Bollywood. Truly, the most successful child-artist-turned actor in the industry!

Imran Khan

When Imran Khan became a popular face with ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, a picture of his cute butt from Mamu’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar started making rounds on the web! He started his stint in Bollywood alongside his Mamu, and played the role of a young Aamir in the films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Urmila Matondkar

According to the trends back then in Urmila Matondkar’s first film Kalyug (1980), the actress acted as a boy. She also played son to Raj Babbar and Rekha starrer Parikshit. Her most famous movie as a child artist was in Masoom. She shot to limelight with her movie ‘Rangeela’ which was the time Bollywood took notice of this sexy girl. Really sexy!

Jugal Hansraj

How can we forget the Masoom boy! The film saw debut of not one but two child artists. Along with Urmila was the fair, truly masoom and light eyed Jugal Hansraj. The two came together 11 years later in 1994 release Aa Gale Lag Jaa. He didn’t really taste the same success as a leading actor and went on to direct movies for Yash Raj banner.

Sana Saeed

Now this is what we call real transformation. From playing Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Anjali in 1998 romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to hot and sexy Tanya in 2012 coming-of-age drama Student of the year. She did quite a number of films as child artist. Psst…Little Anjali is all grown up now!

Hansika Motwani

From children’s television series Shaka Laka Boom Boom to Koi Mil Gaya, we have enjoyed every performance. Her transformation from a bubbly kid dancing around Hrithik Roshan in Koi Mil Gaya to hot, glamourous babe did not go un-noticed. Hansika Motwani is bagging plum roles in Tollywood and is a known name there.
