Nicaragua witnessed unrest over the planned social security reforms

At least 26 people have been killed in the unrest since April 18, according to human rights activists. Capital Managua witnessed protests and looting of shops continued till Sunday. The Ortega government order local broadcasters off the air, but they continued share videos social media channels. Police apparently did not intervene, in contrast to the heavy-handed response to the demonstrations earlier. The violent demonstrations were triggered from the new social security measures, which advanced by the Nicaraguan Institute of Social Security (INSS), establish an increase in contribution and a deduction of five percent from pensions.
