Impressive sun halo seen over Manila skies

This rare sun halo amazed onlookers when it was seen in Manila on February 26.

The optical phenomenon was caused by light reflecting through ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.

It produced a blindingly beautiful double circular rainbow effect surrounding the mid-day sun over the city in South East Asia.
