Here Are the Important Details of the Florida Gun Bill The "Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act" passed the House 67-50 at the Florida State capital on Wednesday. If Gov. Rick Scott signs the bill, these are the following terms that will go into effect: You will only be able to purchase a firearm if you are 21 or older. There will be a three-day waiting period for purchasing a firearm. Bump stocks, which allow firearms to shoot like automatic weapons, will be banned. Law enforcement will have more authority in seizing weapons from those deemed mentally unfit or threatening. The Enact the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program will allow some teachers to be armed if the school district and law enforcement agree. This measure will be optional, and some teachers will be required to do 144 hours of training as well as prior experience in the military or law enforcement, or have taught in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program.
