Battle Hymn of the Republic - The Centennial Mass

For the Men and Boys Choir of The Church of Saint Mary, this was the preeminent closing piece of music from that time period performed perhaps once every two months. Upon hearing the first few measures of music from the 4 manual, 72 rank, 4,126 pipe organ, the congregation would stand, turn around, and look at the choir in the loft. There they would stay until the final, "Amen!" at which point, they would break into applause. This was recorded live at the Centennial Mass, 25 April, 1976, by Reverend Father A. Edward Gretchko. Harold R. Conti, Organist and Choirmaster.
