Coal subsoil burns three months after deadly wildfires raged in Portugal

The subsoil of an abandoned coal mine in a northern Portuguese town is still burning three months after a wildfire raged the area.

The footage, captured in Castelo de Paiva, on January 14, 2017, shows a man digging into the subsoil with a stick and finding flames inside.

''It seems like a volcano,'' someone can be heard saying in the background.
