How was Mindful Running Program created? \r
At age 12 Michael Sandler started meditation, but it wasnt until he had 2 near death experiences that he was truly transformed. It was these two transformations that helped birth his current work in mindful running. In the first near death experience, Michael learned to have external awareness of his body and its connection to earth. His second brush with death resulted in a 7 mos recovery period where all Michael could do was breath and heal himself from the inside out. \r
\r
How Michael manifested the mindful running program by following his intuition (inner compass)? It started with Michael following an inner pull to sell Kambucha at a Farmers Market, which then lead him to a friend of a friend who planted the initial seed for Mindful Running. \r

What is mindful running? Its about connecting meditation and movement with your breathe. Mindful running gives someone an opportunity to exercise, be ive, and meditate daily. The intent is to hard wire the mind on the breath, which slows the whole world down by taking down the anxiety level.\r

How does one run mindfully? Running is the ultimate mindfulness experience that weve had since we were caveman. When you are mindfully running you cannot think about anything else and cant help but being present. Theof movement draws you in to the present moment by anchoring in the movement and becoming aware of the movement. In addition to running, the program involves breathing throughout the day. \r
\r
Is there a history of Meditation and running? Long-gom-pa runners of Tibet would run across the high plans 48 hours at a time running at dusk focusing on the breath. The Marathon Monks of Japan for 1100 years would run for 7 years straight towards the path to enlightenment starting with a marathon a day and then 2 marathons a day. ( Both of these prices focus on the breath and belly breathing. The yogis in Tibet spend 2 years straight focusing on breath alone to strengthen their bodies and cardio vascular breathing. \r
\r
What is belly breathing? Why is it important? Its breathing starting at your belly and through your nose which triggers your parasympathetic system versus up in our chest, which causes our body to go into flight or fight (anxiety/fear)\r
\r
What would mindful running look like? Focus running on a distant tree. Focus on steps while running/walking and coordinating steps with the breath. As you are breathing in this way you slow down breathing and create more Co2. When you build your co2 levels, it opens up channels and opens your cells to take in more oxygen. The more time you spend time at the bottom of the breath, the longer you breath out you the most toxins from your blood stream. In addition to the physical benefits, the mind becomes the quiet. Breathing in this way has to be trained. \r
\r
What does the program include? There are 6-8 weeks of meditation that grow and expand via levels that will get you back into your body. Mental mastery, breathing, exercises to help you strengthen your focus are also part of the program.
