MIAMI — A woman delivered her own baby at home because paramedics were stuck during Hurricane Irma.

The pregnant woman was at her home in Little Haiti on Sunday morning, the Miami Herald reported.

Paramedics were unable to head out during the hurricane, so a dispatcher had to walk the woman through delivering her baby over the phone, Assistant Fire Chief Eloy Garcia said, according to the Miami Herald.

"We weren't able to respond. So she delivered the placenta, also. Dispatch told her how to tie it off. She's stable at home," Garcia said. "We made contact with the assistant medical director here. Talked things through."

The mother and her baby girl were later transported to the hospital by rescue workers.
