SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah nurse arrested after refusing to let a cop take blood from an unconscious crash victim wants to work on forging better ties between police and health care workers.

The incident occurred on July 26 and was recorded on the officer's bodycam. In the footage, Alex Wubbels refused to let cops draw blood from a crash victim in a coma at the University of Utah Hospital burn unit, according to CNN.

Though the man was not a suspect in the crash, police wanted a sample of his blood.

Wubbels showed the police a printout of the hospital's policy on drawing blood, saying their request didn't meet the criteria.

The policy said that before taking a blood sample, police needed either a judge's order or the patient's consent, or the patient had to be under arrest.

The video then shows Wubbels being forcefully arrested for standing her ground.

After sitting in the back of a squad car for 20 minutes she was released without being charged. Two cops have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Online outrage prompted the Salt Lake City mayor and police to issue apologies to Wubbels.
