Actually there was plenty evidence of alien life long before 1898. The gods of the ancients in all cultures, from "those on high" of the Hebrews, the " heavenly hosts," Ezekiel's " wheel within a wheel" i thought to be a space craft, the carvings of mystical Dogon and others of Africa, representations of saucers in ancient glyphs all give evidence that we are not alone in the universe and we have been visited long before.
Yet this song captures the mystery of them in a charming way .
Why they don't stick around or why the government covers them up we don't know.
We don't know.
