Zoinks! Checking Out the Mizpah Hotel & International Car Forest of the Last Church | Video

(via stupidDOPE.com) After engorging on mammoth-sized monster burgers from Middlegate Station, we cruised down America’s Loneliest Highway with our 2016 Mazda CX-5 to check into Mizpah Hotel and Casino in the historic mining town of Tonopah, Nevada. Did we mention that the spot is the town’s most infamous haunted hotel? Whoops, well there ya go.
With history dating back over a century, Mizpah Hotel is located on Tonopah’s chief road. Within walking distance to the town’s mining park and Central Nevada museum, this Old West-style edifice has been retrofitted with all the modern amenities that we millennials demand, regardless of where we go.
The munchies available on location are magnificent, with courteous folks on staff to assist with anything we needed. So, we asked the concierge, where we should go for cool scenery. She responded with “ The International Car Forest of the Last Church”. We thought, “cult”. Turns out, it really was one of the most unique landscapes to which neither of us had ever seen before.
Originally founded by Mark Rippie, the peculiar art exhibit was opened to artists who would rather let paint spill on an automobile rather than a standard canvas. Soon after garnering national attention, Reno resident, Chad Sorg relocated near to the International Car Forest of the Last Church to further evolve the one-of-a-kind gallery’s aesthetic. Composed of over 40 “mas-CAR-pieces”, the International Car Forest of the Last Church has become one of Nevada’s shining examples of true artistic expression.
