Cow Slaughter Threatens Kerala’s Meat Industry | Oneindia Malayalam

Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, bans the sale at cattle markets of bulls, cows, bullocks, buffaloes, steers, heifers, calves and camels for slaughter. It also stipulates that cattle can be sold only to farmers. It has caused outrage in Kerala, one of the few major states that has never banned bovine slaughter. According to data from the Union ministry for animal husbandry, 11.7 lakh adult cattle and 69,170 young cattle were slaughtered in Kerala in 2015-’16. It is the state that slaughters more cattle than any other in India.
കേരളത്തെയും കശാപ്പ് നിരോധനം കാര്യമായി ബാധിക്കും. മൃഗസംരക്ഷണമന്ത്രാലയം പുറത്തുവിട്ട കണക്കില്‍ 12.39 ലക്ഷം കന്നുകാലികളെയാണ് 2015-16 കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ കശാപ്പുചെയ്തത്. ഒന്നാംസ്ഥാനത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ബിഹാറിനെയാണ് കേരളം ബഹുദൂരം പിന്നിലാക്കിയത്.
