The Last Star on a Starless Sky

I've been toying with the idea of a star appearing on a starless night for a while. There was nothing that precedes the star, and surely nothing that follows it. The star appears, then gets covered by a thick mist, fights its way back to shine one last time before disappearing. The sky is back to what it was before: starless. But is there a slight change? We can only hope so.
