He is a professor at the European Graduate School, International Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, Birkbeck College, University of London, and a senior researcher at the Institute of Sociology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. His latest and forthcoming texts include The Courage of Hopelessness: Chronicles of a Year of Acting Dangerously, Lenin 2017, and a revised version of his 2008 classic In Defense of Lost Causes.
