Rap didn't officially become recognized as a genre until 1989. 1989 was also the year that the academy revoked a Grammy having taken away pop duo Milli Vanilli's 'best new artist' award after they discovered that they hadn't sung a single note on their album. Katy Perry doesn't have a single Grammy, but Elmo does. The very first 'record of the year' award went to an Italian Singer for his song Volare, which was featured in the Lizzy McGuire movie. The naming rights for the show went to Rosejay Elizabeth Danna in 1959. A quarter of the nation's presidents have won a Grammy, including Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
