Director Ashim Ahluwalia said that he does not have a typical mainstream films background as he studied film-making in the US at a school, which was not very focused on Hollywood and had more of an art-house feel to it. he said that 'Miss Lovely' was initially intended to be a documentary on the C grade film industry, which churns out films high on sexual content for small town audiences.
