Piton De La Fournaise Sends Lava Streams Flowing Across Réunion Island

The Piton de la Fournaise volcano, located on France’s La Réunion island, erupted for the second time in 2016 on September 11.
This footage shows lava bursting from the volcano.
According to a report by Le Figaro, citing Philip Kowalski, deputy director of Piton de la Fournaise’s Volcano Observatory, the volcano exhibited seismic activity throughout the night and erupted at about 8:41am. The volcano last erupted in May. Credit: Jonathan Payet
