French wine production plunges after bad weather

Winemakers in France’s have been hit by drought, hail and spring frost that’s seen production plunge by at least ten percent.
In the Champagne region, yields have dropped by thirty-two percent for the year. One winemaker says he’s lost about sixty-five percent of his normal yield.
“As you can see it’s completely dry, even deep down,” said cognac wine producer Jérôme Durand, pointing at his vines. “You see here the direct consequences on the wine grapes. Here you can see that the grapes are either partially or completely black, burnt by the heat.”

Some winemakers lost their entire crop just before the 2016 harvest was set to start.
Inclement weather has caused problems for many French regions this year.
Bourgogne, and Loire were amongst the areas worst affected.
