nThambo Tree Camp - Klaserie Nature Reserve, South Africa

In this episode, David explores the nThambo Tree Camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, an area situated in the heart of the Kruger National Park. The location provides Big Five safaris and walking safaris, offering guests the chance to admire hippos, giraffes, zebras and a variety of birds.

David starts by showcasing nThambo Tree Camp's 5 unique upscale tree lodges that let guests stay in the midst of wild nature. This is why guests aren't allowed to walk the grounds alone at night (sounds scary, but it's really not!)

By being in the middle of the wilderness, guests can hear lion, leopard, elephant, and hyena. David sits down with local ranger Matt Roberts to talk about what people can expect from the camp.

The camp's small size allows for only 10 guests at a time, making it a very private and intimate experience for guests. A typical day is very relaxed. The day starts at 6 AM with an early morning game drive to check out some of the local wildlife like giraffe, hyena, lion, and elephant. After about 2-3 hours, guests return for a home-cooked breakfast back at the camp.

You will then have the option for a hike to see some of the smaller park residents and get some fresh air. Or you could take the opportunity to curl up with a good book, take a dip in the pool, or indulge in complete relaxation. After a delicious lunch, guests are taken on afternoon game drives for another 2-3 hours. The best animal sightings are during early morning or late afternoon. Keep an eye out in the video for a rare leopard sighting!

nThambo Tree Camp prefers to have an open camp to allow animals to pass through unlike other parks that fence animals out. Their mission is to bring people closer to nature, which is why it isn't a mere a "hotel in the bush," but rather a way to have an authentic bush experience.
