Iowa Man Loses Out On $100,000 Lottery Win As He Is Underage

20-Year-Old Jobie Boals-Watters of Iowa will have to return a large lottery prize.

Winning $100,000 in the lottery is certainly a dream come true, but for Jobie Boals-Watters of Iowa, it ended up not being a very pleasant one. 
The 20-year-old will have to return the prize as the ticket was purchased when he was underage. Though Iowa allows individuals under 21 to claim winnings, it requires tickets be bought by someone at or beyond that threshold.
When Boals-Watters filed a claim for the winnings, which came to roughly $70,000 after taxes, he told officials that a coworker had made the purchase.
