Florida man goes to strip club 'to clear his head' after committing murder

RIVIERA BEACH, FLORIDA — A 41-year-old Florida man decided a strip club was the perfect distraction to clear his guilty conscience after he killed a man in Riviera Beach.
Cops said Rodney Chavers drove 10 miles south to Sugar Daddy's Gentleman's Club in West Palm Beach to take his mind off the murder after shooting dead Tarrie Wilder, 42, the New York Daily News reports.
At the club, Chavers handed his gun to an acquaintance. The man later told police he assumed he was handed the weapon because Chavers wanted to get a lap dance or a drink, according to the Palm Beach Post. The man later went to return the gun but instead found Chavers had started a fight.
After being thrown out of the strip club for bringing a gun, Chavers hitched a ride home with three other people. In the car, he suddenly took out his firearm and declared that he had killed a man earlier that night for punching him.
The thoroughly freaked-out driver and his two companions pulled over to a gas station when Chavers fell asleep. Then they called 911.
When the cops arrived, they found Chavers snoozing in the car with the gun on his lap and promptly arrested him. Chavers has been charged with second-degree murder, the Sun Sentinel reports.
