Time Capsule Found At MIT With Instructions Not To Open Until 2957

A time capsule form 1957 was discovered during recent excavations at MIT. A note on the outside reads not to open the capsule until 2957.

An excavation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, turned up a pleasant surprise—a time capsule from 1957.
The capsule was buried in order to mark the dedication of MIT's Compton Laboratories in the spring of that year.
Deborah Douglas, the director of collections for the MIT Museum, notes, "This was just four months prior to the launch of Sputnik and the start of the ‘Space Race’. MIT researchers were focused on developing the technologies of the future and they were excited about the completion of the Compton Laboratories.”
