Rare Albino Alligator Gets A Checkup

Alabaster, thought to be one of 50 albino alligators in existence, recently received his annual check-up by the staff at the South Carolina Aquarium where he lives and was found to be healthy with moderate growth from last year.
A rare albino alligator has been found to be in good health after his annual check-up.
In fact, the 19-year-old named Alabaster has gained 20 pounds and 3 inches since his previous exam which means he has grown to 187 pounds and 8-1/2 feet long.
Alligators born with albinism, which is the absence of skin pigments, typically have a low survival rate.
