China's one-child policy leaves legacy of 'empty nests' and 'ghost children'

With its economy slowing and a rapidly aging population, China has now abandoned its one-child policy. After 36 years of strict enforcement, the measure was labelled counter-productive in contemporary China. But the policy has left a cumbersome legacy in its wake: "ghost children" and "empty nests". Our correspondents in China explain.
