Hernan Bas: A portrait of a Miami artist

Through painting with slimfast shakes and worshipping physical male beauty, Hernan Bas has become a leading name in figurative art. From being one of Miami's most celebrated artists, he left the sunshine to relocate to the crumbling wasteland of Detroit. He is inspired by Moby Dick, Oscar Wilde and the film "Carrie". The artist speaks to Eve Jackson about his fascination with painting young men, being inspired by French painters and his new exhibition at the Perrotin Gallery in Paris.
