This incredible footage shows how three distraught circus elephants attacking cars and spectators.

The animals – called Lara, Jenny and Jungla - became agitated after returning from a dip in the sea in Denmark.

Eye-witnesses said a circus worker had struck one of the elephants.

In the terrifying clip, one of the elephants digs it tusks into a nearby car before effortlessly tossing it in the air.

Concerned onlookers are seen backing away as the creature rolls the vehicle towards the road.
As part of an annual tradition, the elephants were led down to the beach in Karrebæksminde to cool down.

In the rampage, a car had its window and bonnet smashed and a woman knocked her head on a cobblestone paving after being pushed to the ground.

However, the circus have denied any responsibility for the events.

They insisted people should have kept their distance and the cars that were damaged should not have been parked where they were.
Circus director Benny Berdino said that spectators were too keen to get up close to the elephants.

The circus have vowed that they will continue with the annual tradition, but next year they will work with police to ensure no people get hurt and the path is cleared for the elephants.

The video has attracted more than 73,500 views since it was posted online by Casper Sanderson on July 12.

Last week, an elephant took a hefty tumble during a circus performance - ending up on its bag with its feet in the air.
