USA: Death Penalty for Charleston Murders?

With reference to the case of the killings of nine African Americans by confessed murderer Dylan Storm Roof in Charlestonk South Carolina on Wednesday, Mayor Joseph Riley said that he is not a proponent of the death penalty but that since the penalty is the law “certainly this case would merit it.” Charleston County Prosecutor Scarlett A. Wilson said at a Friday press conference that she will speak to family members before making a decision about whether to pursue the death penalty.
