In response to concerns about Iran’s influence in the Middle East, President Obama is expected to make a renewed push for a Gulf-wide missile defense shield during an upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council summit.

The United States’ Gulf nation allies worry that once Iran is no longer subject to economic sanctions, Shiite Iran will be flush with cash and seek to expand it’s influence in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Iraq.
