A private jet crashed and caught fire as it tried to take off from a Massachusetts airstrip late on Saturday killing all seven people on board, including Lewis Katz, the co-owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper.
The crash took place at Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts, northwest of Boston.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, said the plane was carrying four passengers, two pilots and a cabin attendant.
Reports said that the plane never left the ground during the attempted takeoff, instead running through the end of the runway before striking an antenna and crashing through a chainlink fence before coming to rest in a ditch, where it was consumed by flames.
Katz, was returning from a charity fundraising event with three friends when the crash occurred.
The NTSB said it was too early to speculate on what had caused the accident at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday as the flight attempted to take off bound for Atlantic City.
"We haven't ruled out anything, but there is no reason to suggest it was anything but an accident," he told a news conference.
