It was a weekend full of surprises at the 2014 World Cup as the tournament's group stage continued its exciting beginning and Sepp Blatter's new toy, goal line technology, finally got to play a role.
Things got off to a shocking start for reigning champions Spain on Friday.
After another dodgy penalty decision had seen Spain take the lead, Robin van Persie's spectacular salmon-like leap got the Netherlands back into the game.
Before they smash four goals second-half goals past a ragged Spanish defense and shell-shocked captain Iker Casillas - the first time Spain had conceded more than 5 goals in 50 years.
Then on Saturday Costa Rica lived up to their coach's promise to be party poopers by outclassing the Suarez-less Uruguay by three goals to one.
While Mario Balotelli's second-half header saw Italy triumph 2-1 over Steven Gerrard's England in the other Group D clash.
Meanwhile, goal-line technology finally made its World Cup debut when it was called into action to settle the arguments after Karim Benzema's shot was clawed away from behind the line by the Honduras goalkeeper during France's opening 3-0 victory.
And last but not least, the flea finally seems to have come out of his World Cup shell after Lionel Messi put in a good performance that included a classic Messi goal during Argentina's 2-1 win over Bosnia.
