NYPD cops caught on video performing illegal choke hold on man a week before Eric Garner’s death

We have another case of a New York City police officer placing a man in an illegal chokehold, this time at an East Harlem subway station.
The incident occurred on July 14 at around 4:20 p.m. at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station, when 22-year-old Ronald Johns entered the station via an exit gate, according to court documents.
Officer Colin McGuire stopped Johns, who refused to show ID and then, according to a criminal complaint, “flailed his arms and twisted his body to prevent Officer McGuire from putting handcuffs on him.”
Footage obtained by East Harlem community activist Kelmy Rodriquez, shows officer McGuire punching Johns and putting him in a chokehold at least twice. Bystanders tell the officers “you busted his nose,” and drops of blood can be seen on the ground.
Johns was charged with turnstile jumping and trespassing, as well as resisting arrest, which is what the cops always charge you with if they’ve been filmed giving you an illegal beat-down.
The choking incident in East Harlem happened a week before NYPD officers choked to death Eric Garner, a 43-year-old father of six, in Staten Island.
Garner, who friends said was asthmatic, was wrestled to the ground after being accused of selling illegal cigarettes.
Garner told officers he couldn't breathe 11 times. He went into cardiac arrest and died.
