A San Diego fisherman was attacked and dragged underwater by a hungry sea lion while he was posing for a picture with a fish he just caught.

Daniel Carlin was on his boat posing for a picture with a large fish he had just caught when a hungry sea lion snapped the fish and the man's hand and arm.

With amazing strength, the 300-kilos animail then pull the man and the fish off the boat and dragged them for some meters in the water.

When eventually the sea lion loosened the grip, Carlin managed to escape and swim back to his boat where his wife helped him to get back onboard.

He suffered a broken hand and an injured foot, but commented to ABC News that he feels very lucky to have made it alive.
